ABOUT
PHYLLIS BRAFF, an independent critic and curator,
wrote a regular column of art criticism for The New York Times (Long Island Section) for several decades, and also wrote regularly in that capacity for The East Hampton Star for many years. She wrote the Letter from New York column for Art:Si and was the international art contributor to Cover magazine and a regular contributor to Tema Celeste magazine. Her work has also appeared in numerous periodicals, including The Art Bulletin, Arts, Art News, Art in America. She is the author of a number of books, catalogues and essays. She served for decades as a museum curator and administrator, and served on the faculty of Queens College, School of Visual Arts, and on the graduate faculty of L I University. She is also a past president of the International Association of Art Critics, USA section, and a former vice-president of that international organization, which is based in Paris.
